We can professionally restore cracked and damaged composition or porcelain dolls, even if some parts are missing. Antique doll restoration is a fine art process because many of the materials these dolls were made from, porcelain, composition, paper and vinyl. Depending on the specific materials used in a doll through time, they may crack, wear and tear on bodies, wigs matted and deteriorated. We may wash and restyle the wig or suggest a new wig made similar to the original. Clothing may be torn and yellowed with age, missing appendages, glass eyes may need to be replaced. If your doll has suffered smoke or fire damage we can usually reverse that damage.
All antique and collectable dolls should be restored to a degree that is true to their time. Research is done on the doll before restoration begins to stay with the originality of the doll. In some cases restoration may not be recommended as it may reduce the overall value of the doll.

The above doll is a 28″ Simon Halbig Doll Made in Germany About 1890-1912
I had cleaned the doll, made a new finger which was missing on her composition body and restrung her. Washed and restyled her human hair wig.
Holly Hendricks from Holly’s Custom Sewing took the original dress, cleaned it and restored the dress which was soiled and shredded from age.
Between our two efforts, the doll came out so beautiful and the owners were so excited and very much pleased.
